Reviewing orders
Exclude a line item
Leave a line off the Shopify draft order without deleting it, and put it back if you change your mind.
Updated
Not every line on a purchase order should become a line on the Shopify draft order. A buyer might list an item you no longer stock, include something they have already cancelled by phone, or add a line for information rather than for fulfilment.
Excluding a line leaves it off the draft order without pretending it was never on the purchase order.
Exclude one
Select the line’s row in the line items table to open it, then use Exclude from order at the bottom of the panel, beside Save and continue. You are asked to confirm, because it changes what the buyer will be invoiced for.
The line moves to an Excluded line items section below the table, which shows how many lines are in it. Open that section to see them, each marked Excluded.

Put it back
Open the excluded line the same way and use Add back. To restore everything at once, Add all back to order sits at the bottom of the section.
Either way the line returns exactly as it was — its matched product, unit conversion and price choice are all preserved, because excluding a line only marks it as left out. Nothing is deleted and nothing is re-read from the document. A line that still needed attention before you excluded it will still need attention when it comes back.
What excluding changes
The line does not reach Shopify. It is left out of the draft order and out of the order subtotal.
It stops holding the order up. Excluded lines are not counted when working out whether the order is ready, so an order whose only remaining blocker is a line you were never going to fulfil can go through. This is the main reason to use it rather than working around the line.
Prices are worked out again. If you had already priced the order, excluding or adding back a line discards that calculation, because the order is no longer the one Shopify quoted. This is automatic.
It is recorded. Excluding and adding back are both written to the order’s history, so a draft that does not match the purchase order it came from can be explained later.
What it does not change
The purchase order itself. The excluded line is still on the buyer’s document, still visible on the order, and still shows what was read from it.
That matters when the totals are compared: the buyer’s total still includes the line you excluded, so the Shopify draft will come to less than the purchase order says. That is the intended result, but it is worth telling the buyer rather than letting them find it on the invoice.
Limits
You cannot exclude every line. An order needs at least one active line item before a draft can be created. If nothing on the purchase order should be fulfilled, delete the order instead of emptying it.
Only during review. Once the Shopify draft order exists, the PO Autopilot order is a read-only record. Change the draft in Shopify instead.
Excluded one at a time. There is no bulk exclude — the checkboxes on the table select lines for a bulk price decision, not for exclusion. Adding back is the exception: Add all back to order restores the whole section at once.
