Create and manage UOM mappings

A unit-of-measure (UOM) conversion is stored as part of a product mapping, so you create one while resolving a line and manage it from the Mappings screen.

Create one in advance

If you already know a buyer’s pack sizes, set them up before their order arrives:

1. Go to Mappings and choose Create mapping.
2. Choose the buyer’s company and location, and enter their item number.
3. Enter the unit they order in — CASE, BOX, CS.
4. Choose the Shopify product.
5. Set Shopify units per that unit — six if their case holds six.
6. Save mapping.

Create one while resolving an order

1. Open a line ordered in cases, boxes or another multi-unit.
2. Choose the Shopify product and variant, if that is not already settled.
3. In Shopify units per followed by the buyer’s unit, enter how many Shopify units are in one of them.
4. Under Remember this match?, choose This buyer only.
5. Save the line.

Without step 4 the conversion applies to this order only, and the next order in the same unit asks again.

Review what you have

Go to Mappings. Under Company-specific mappings or Global mappings, depending on how far the mapping reaches, each one shows:

• Customer item number — the code as it appears on their purchase orders.
• Source unit — the unit it applies to, normalised. A document that said CS shows as CASE.
• Shopify variant — what it resolves to.
• Conversion — written out in full, as 1 case = 6 each.
• Approved — when it was agreed.

The search box filters by buyer, SKU, product or unit, which is the quickest way to find one mapping among many.

Correct one

To point it at a different product, use Edit beside the mapping. It opens the Shopify product picker, and the mapping keeps its conversion — useful when a variant has been replaced but the pack size has not changed.

To correct the conversion itself, delete the mapping and create it again from the next order that uses that code and unit. The number cannot be edited in place.

Do this as soon as you spot a wrong pack size. Until it is gone, every future order using that code and unit inherits the wrong number.

Delete one

Use Delete beside the mapping and confirm.

Removing it affects future orders only. Draft orders already created in Shopify are untouched, and orders currently in review keep the values they have.

When you will have several for one product

You will accumulate more than one mapping per product, and that is correct:

• One per unit. The same code ordered in cases and in singles is two mappings, because a case conversion must never be applied to singles.
• One per buyer. Each company location has its own, so one customer’s case of twelve and another’s case of six coexist.
